Easton Woman Charged Due to Neglect of Children and Deplorable Living Conditions at Apartment

A 24-year-old Easton woman is being charged with 3 counts of Neglect of a Minor after the Talbot County Department of Social Services reported deplorable living conditions at an apartment at 31 Pleasant Alley. Social Services called detectives of the Easton Police Department, who once inside the apartment, noticed feces smeared on the walls and toys, old food left out, and clutter everywhere. The carpets were sticky, fly traps were full and throughout the apartment. Due to the strong, foul smell that was within the apartment, investigators had to take multiple trips outside for fresh air. Investigators learned that the children were not being taken to important doctor appointments, were missing school and needs were being neglected. Investigators later learned it cost landlords about $5,300 to clean and make the apartment habitable again. As a result, the Easton Police Department served a criminal summons on Ms. Dai’ja A. Worthy of Easton.
