DSP Spring Citizens Police Academy in Sussex County
Delaware State Police will hold their 2023 Citizens police academy beginning March 29th. The nine week academy will meet on Wednesday nights from 6 to 8pm and participants will get an up close look at how Delaware State Police operate. Applications are due by March 15th – and class size is limited.
Most of the classes will take place at Delaware State Police Troop 7, located at 19444 Mulberry Knoll Road in Lewes and the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center, located at 21911 Rudder Lane in Georgetown.
Participants will learn about a wide array of interesting police activities consistent with what the Delaware State Police experience today. The Academy includes, but is not limited to, classroom instruction on evidence processing, criminal and traffic investigations, tours of DSP facilities, familiarization with special units and other topics. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to ride with patrol troopers.
Class size will be limited to 25 participants and background checks will be conducted on all applicants.
Applications can be submitted online through the Citizens Police Academy website from now until March 15, 2023.
