Delaware State Police say they are attempting to locate 22-year-old Steven McCormick Jr. of Salisbury, who is wanted on domestic assault related charges and recklessly endangering responding troopers.

On Thursday, a physical domestic incident occurred on Boyd Drive in Magnolia between McCormick Jr. and his girlfriend. During the incident, the suspect punched her multiple times and prevented her from contacting 9-1-1 by damaging her phone. McCormick then fled in a stolen vehicle: a 2010 gray Ford Fusion.

On that same day, the stolen vehicle was reported seen at the Walgreens in Bridgeville. DSP says they arrived on scene and one Trooper attempted to exit the patrol vehicle, but the suspect drove at the trooper, slamming the passenger side of the vehicle. A second Trooper exited the vehicle and began giving commands to the suspect, although he continued to ram the rear of the stolen vehicle into the side of the patrol vehicle. The Trooper sustained minor injuries. Another Trooper arrived on scene and attempted to assist, when the suspect recklessly drove the stolen vehicle in the direction of the Trooper, causing him to jump out of the way to avoid being struck.

McCormick fled the scene, being observed traveling on Sussex Highway in the area of Bridgeville Road. Authorities say his Maryland’s Driver’s License was suspended.

The suspect is wanted on theft of a motor vehicle, malicious interference with emergency communication, offensive touching, two counts of criminal mischief, two counts of reckless endangering, resisting arrest, vehicular assault and driving without a license.

Any one with information on McCormick’s whereabouts are asked to contact DSP Troop 4 at (302) 752-3806 or by contacting 9-1-1. Information can also be submitted to Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
