DSP & OHS Target Distracted Driving in Delaware

Delaware State Police, Office of Highway Safety and DelDOT last month partnered for the Winter Distracted Driving/Occupant Distraction enforcement. This campaign targeted distracted drivers and seatbelt violations statewide through February 13 and ended with 541 traffic contacts – 435 tickets and 98 warnings – and 8 criminal arrests. There were 82 drivers contacted for using a cell phone, 120 speeding violations 52 seatbelt violations, 2 child restraint violations, 2 DUIs on one charge for passing a stopped school bus. There a currently a campaign underway with DUI and speed enforcement through the end of March.
