UPDATE: 8/10/23:

The Talk of Delmarva has learned more details on the crash that occurred yesterday on Coastal Highway just south of Shady Road in Lewes. At about 10:55 a.m., a Ford Escape was at the stop sign on northbound Coastal Highway waiting to turn left across the southbound lanes into the Home Depot Parking lot. The driver of the Escape did not remain stopped at the stop sign until southbound traffic passed, and as a result, the front of a DART bus collided with the Ford’s passenger side. The DART bus remained at the scene, but the Escape did not. The driver of the DART bus–a 61-year-old woman from Dover is okay, but two passengers on the bus were taken to an area hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Meanwhile, police identified the driver of the Ford Escape–a 49-year-old woman from Georgetown– through numerous tips and messages that they received from the community. She was arrested today and charged with Leaving the Scene of a Collision Resulting in Injuries, Driving Without a Valid License, Failure to Have Insurance Identification in Possession, among other crash scene and traffic-related offenses.
