UPDATE: One Person Seriously Injured in Felton Area Accident
One person is being treated for serious injuries after an accident in the Felton area at just before 6 p.m. yesterday. The collision occurred at the intersection of South Dupont Highway and Reeves Crossing Road in Felton. Corporal Leonard DeMalto of the Delaware State Police tells the Talk of Delmarva that a Ford Focus was heading east approaching the intersection when a Chevrolet Silverado hauling a horse trailer was traveling northbound on S. Dupont Highway toward the same intersection. The Focus entered the intersection despite a red light, which led to the Silverado striking the passenger side of the car. From the impact, the Focus then crashed into a traffic sign, and the Silverado struck a utility pole. A State Police helicopter flew the driver of the Focus–a 20-year-old woman from Scottsville, Virginia– to an area hospital for serious injuries. Police later issued her a ticket for Failure to Obey a Traffic Device and Failure to Have Insurance Identification in Possession. The driver of the Silverado–a 73-year-old man from Willards, Maryland– was not injured.
