DSP Investigating Armed Robbery at Frederica Valero

Delaware State Police is investigating following the armed robbery of a Valero gas station in Frederica

Troopers say the incident took place on April 13 around 10:30 p.m. at the Valero located at 7865 Bay Road. Troopers met with the store clerk who said that while he was locking the door and preparing to leave, three masked males forced their way in with handguns. The suspects ordered the clerk to open the safe. When the employee was unable to open the safe, a struggle ensued and the employee was struck with the handle of the gun. The employee activated the alarm although the suspects fled with tobacco products.

Troopers identified 18-year-old Charles A. Young, Jr. as a suspect. They later identified 18-year-old Christopher Carter and a 15-year-old as suspects.

Young was charged with first degree robbery, 2 counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, second degree conspiracy and 2 counts of first degree reckless endangerment. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on 46,000 dollars cash only bond.

Carter was charged with first degree robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony and second degree conspiracy. He was arraigned and released on his own recognizance.

The juvenile was charged with first degree robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a prohibited juvenile, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony and second degree conspiracy. He was arraigned and released on his own recognizance as well.
