DSP & DNREC Investigating Kite Boarder Death South of Dewey Beach

A kite boarding incident in the Towers Bay area south of Dewey Beach has left a 48 year old man from Bear dead. Delaware State Police say the victim was with his father – and practicing kite boarding using on the harness and kite – but no board – while standing in the water. Heavy winds pulled the victim into deep water and his father called 9-1-1. DNREC Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police located the victim’s body along the shore south of where he’d gone into the water. His body has been taken to the Division of Forensic Science for autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
