DSP Arrest Salisbury Man for DUI & other Charges Near Bridgeville

Delaware State Police arrested a Salisbury man after a traffic stop near Bridgeville around 10:30am on December 19. Troopers patrolling the Mill Park Drive area saw a Jetta driving towards them on the wrong side of the road. The troopers avoided a crash and then activated their emergency equipment, but the Jetta failed to stop. Troopers stopped the Jetta on Coverdale Road and identified the driver as 32 year old Marcus Echard of Salisbury, who showed signs of impairment. Echard was arrested and a search of his person turned up drug paraphernalia. A search of the vehicle revealed a concealed handgun and additional drug paraphernalia.

Echard was taken to Troop 5, where he was charged with the following crimes:

  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon/Firearm (Felony)
  • Attempting to Engage in Firearms Transaction (Felony)
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Possession of a Firearm while Under the Influence
  • Driving Under the Influence of Drugs
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Other Traffic Offenses

Echard was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $18,210 cash bond.
