Update: Dover Fire Leaves One Person Dead, Several Injured

Dover Police and the fire department continue to investigate the cause of a fatal fire early Wednesday.
57-year-old Gowens Williams was found deceased in the mixed-use building at Loockerman Street and South New Street early Wednesday morning.
One woman was admitted to a local hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation. Six other people have been treated and released.

One person is dead and seven other people needed hospital treatment following a fire in Dover.
The blaze broke out at about 2:39 a.m. today (Wednesday) in a large building at the corner of Loockerman Street and South New Street.
Dover Police said one male victim was found deceased inside of the building. Others were evaluated and treated for minor injuries and / or smoke inhalation at a nearby hospital.
The fire was declared under control right before 8:00 a.m. Firefighters from numerous companies assisted Dover firefighters at the scene (Leipsic, Little Creek, Camden-Wyoming, Magnolia, Dover Air Force Base, and Hartly).
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Loockerman Street is expected to remain closed between Queen Street and Governors Avenue for an extended time due to the fire investigation.
