DNREC Natural Resources Police Annual Youth Fishing Tournament Saturday
DNREC Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police hold their 33rd Annual Youth Fishing Tournament for kids aged 4 to 15 today from 10am to 1pm. The tournament will be held at Ingrams Pond near Millsboro, Akridge Scout Reservation near Camden, and Lums Pond State Park near Bear. Participants should arrive before 10am to register – the tournament is free and open to the public. Kids under age 12 must be with an adult. All contestants must bring their own fishing equipment. Prizes to all participants will be awarded at 1:30pm.
The tournament was established to introduce youth to the sport of fishing and to teach the catch-and-release approach to conservation. The event has grown tremendously since its start in 1986, introducing more than 200 youths to sport fishing each year.
