DNREC: Don’t sled on the dunes!
January 3, 2018
DNREC officials are reminding people dunes are still closed to the public during winter, even when it snows. The agency issued a release yesterday urging residents and visitors to no go sledding or snowboarding on beach dunes after a snowfall. Cape Henlopen State Park Superintendent Pat Cooper says dunes are a fragile habitat that also provides protections for the communities lying beyond them. Cooper says recent storms have already damaged the dunes, and is asking the public to help protect the dunes.
