Update: Teenager Dead, Another Teen Wounded In Dorchester Co. Shooting

Update:

A 16-year-old boy is dead and a 15-year-old boy is in a hospital following a shooting in Cambridge Thursday night.

According to Maryland State Police, Cambridge Police officers responded to the 900-block of Camelia Street at about 8:15 p.m. for a reported shooting involving multiple victims. Police found two male victims at the scene.

16-year-old Ja’Len Woolford of Cambridge was pronounced dead at the scene. The wounded boy was taken to Dorchester General Hospital before being flown to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore for treatment of his injuries.

Cambridge Police requested that the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit take over the investigation. No other injuries or fatalities have been reported. A preliminary investigation indicated that the shooting does not appear to be random and the victims may have been targeted.

No arrests have been made.

Cambridge Police and Maryland State Police are investigating gunfire Thursday night in the area of Greenwood Avenue and Camelia Avenue.

Initial reports were that more than one person was struck and that there was one fatality. Several people were taken to an area hospital.

The investigation is in its very early stages.
