Delmar Teen Charged with Hate Crimes & Weapons Offenses

Laurel Police have charged a Delmar teen after a 13 year old reported that someone pointed a gun at him during a 9-1-1 call a week ago. Police contacted the victim, who was accompanied by a guardian, and learned the suspect was gone from the area. Police investigation determined the juvenile was playing basketball in his driveway when a white male pulled up and began yelling racial slurs at the juvenile, pulled a firearm and pointed it at the victim who ran inside as the vehicle left the area.

Police canvassed the area for surveillance video or witnesses and identified a 16 year old Delmar, Delaware teen as the suspect. He turned himself into Laurel Police who charged him with weapons offenses, hate crime and aggravated menacing. He was released on his own recognizance.
