Delmar Man Charged for Stealing Car in Millsboro

A Delmar man has been arrested by Delaware State Police for stealing a car in Millsboro Thursday afternoon. Police were called to Daisey Road just after 4pm for a stolen Ford Focus that was taken from a driveway with fishing gear inside the car. A Dagsboro Police officer spotted the car in town and contacted the driver, 35 year old Terry Toomey of Delmar when he stopped at Bodies on Main Street. Toomey was detained and turned over to Delaware State Police. He faces multiple charges:

  • Theft of a Motor Vehicle (Felony)
  • Theft Under $1,500
  • Driving While Suspended or Revoked
  • Driving at an Unreasonable Speed
  • Criminal Trespass Third Degree

Toomey was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and released on his own recognizance. Toomey also had numerous active warrants for his arrest, and he was ultimately committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $22,167 cash bond.
