Delaware Unemployment Shows Slight Drop but Higher than National Average

Delaware’s unemployment rate remains above the national average of 3.5% – at 4.1%, but is a tenth of a percent lower that in June. It is the lowest level for the state since February of 2020.

In Sussex County the unemployment rate dropped from 3.7% in June to 3.5% in July.

The Delaware Department of Labor says there were 20,600 unemployed Delawareans in July of 2023 compared to 21,800 a year ago. The most growth over the past year has been in the Leisure and Hospitality sector with an increase in 5000 jobs followed by Private Education and Health.
