Delaware State University Swears In New Member to Board of Trustees

Governor John Carney’s appointee to the Delaware State University Board of Trustees were recently sworn in to the position in Dover.

Esthelda R. Parker Selby of Milton was appointed by the Governor and officially sworn in by Board Chairperson Devona Williams on June 20. This brings the board to full 15-member body status.

For more than three decades, Selby served as a teacher, initially as a teacher in the Cape Henlopen School District, later becoming an administrator, assistant principal and principal in districts across the state. Prior to retirement, she served as a Cape Henlopen District-level administrator in the Department of Human Secources and Community Services. She also taught Multi-Cultural Education for several years as an adjunct professor at Delaware State University. Outside of education, she’s active in politics and educational advocacy, as well as a former Vice Mayor of Milton.

Selby was educated at then-Delaware State College, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a minor in Education.
