A Delaware scientist is being honored for some ‘bird-brained’ research. Cristina Frank, an environmental scientist for Pepco Holdings studied the flight paths of bald eagles and incorporated geographic distribution of power lines to identify 78 new eagle roosts throughout the greater mid-atlantic region. Officials say the study improved the Aviation Protection Plan for聽Delmarva Power, Atlantic City Electric Company, and Pepco. The study will help protect bald eagles from power line collisions, which not only harms eagles, but also causes power outages.
