Seventy-two fourth graders outside Rehoboth Elementary School on March 28 to welcome a Book Barn with “ag accurate” books donated by Delaware Farm Bureau for their school library.

Over the next three years, the Delaware Farm Bureau will put “ag accurate” books in every Delaware elementary school library – and in the past two weeks – Book Barns have been delivered to Rehoboth and Shields Elementary Schools.  “Book Barns” are a set of custom-made shelves – which are so far being built by the Smyrna FFA.  Thanks to a specialty crop grant from the USDA, the project has accelerated with the purchase of over 1000 “ag accurate” books appropriate for children about the crops grown here in Delaware.

Nancy King of King Crop Insurance read “Green Beans! Green Beans!” to 95 fourth graders at Shields Elementary School in Lewes during lunchtime as Delaware Farm Bureau presented a Book Barn and more than a dozen “ag accurate” books to the school’s library.
