UPDATED: Long Neck Man Shot during Domestic Incident in Potnets Creekside
UPDATED 11/20/21 11:15am – A Long Neck man has been arrested after he shot at Delaware State Police in the Potnets Creekside development.
Police were called just before 8:30 Friday night for a domestic in-progress on Crab Alley East. The woman told police her boyfriend had been drinking and was locked in a bedroom with their 9-month old. He was refusing to come out and putting on body armor and had a rifle.
The woman left the home as police arrived, but 31 year old Michael Bartie was uncooperative and threatened there would be a shootout. Just before 9, Bartie went outside and fired twice in the direction of police. A trooper returned fire and struck Bartie. He was arrested and taken to a nearby hospital with a non-life threatening injury.
Police found a rifle and 9mm handgun. Bartie is charged with weapons offenses and 4 counts of 1st degree reckless endangering and is being held in default of $600,000 cash bond. The trooper ā a five year veteran from Troop 7 – has been placed on administrative duty and the child was unharmed and returned to her mother.

Delaware State Police are conducting a criminal investigation in the 25000 block of Crab Alley East at Long Neck. Police say there is an increased police presence in the area, but there is no threat to the safety of the community. Police will release more information when it becomes available.
