UPDATED: Crash in Bridgeville Leaves 1 Dead and DNREC Mopping Up Large Fuel Spill

UPDATED – 11/4/19 – 11am – Delaware State Police have identified the driver who died in the crash on Sunday, November 3 at Route 13 and Redden Road in Bridgeville, as 49-year-old Isaias Perez of Bridgeville. The crash remains under investigation.

ORIGINAL STORY – 11/3/19 – One lane of southbound Route 13 has reopened in the area of Redden Road in Bridgeville after a fuel truck overturned after a crash just before 11 this morning. Hazmat crews were called after a large amount of diesel fuel leaked on the roadway. Delaware State Police say a Toyota Corolla was in the southbound lanes nearing Redden Road when the fuel truck, westbound on Redden Road, crossed both the north and southbound lanes of Route 13 colliding with the Toyota. The fuel truck overturned – spilling a substantial amount of fuel. The driver of the Toyota, a 49 year old man from Bridgeville was properly restrained and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the fuel truck, a 64 year old man from Milton was taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. DNREC remains on the scene for continued cleanup and DSP continue to investigate.
