UPDATED: Frankford Crash Leaves Georgetown Woman Dead

UPDATED – 8pm – A crash just before noon in Frankford has left a Georgetown woman dead.  Delaware State police say the driver of an Indian River School bus didn’t remain stopped for a stop sign and pulled into the northbound lane of Route 113 from the median crossover near Daisey Road – into the path of a Ford Transit van.  The driver of the van tried to avoid a crash but couldn’t.  The driver of the bus was properly restrained and not injured.  A school bus aide, 66 year old Barbara Atkins was pronounced dead at Beebe Medical Center – she was unrestrained – a seat belt was available.   The driver of the van was properly restrained and suffered minor injuries.

The northbound lanes of Route 113 at Daisy Street in Frankford are closed after a crash involving an Indian River District school bus and a cargo van that occurred just before noon.  Delaware State Police say no children were on the bus, however there were injuries from the crash.  WGMD will have more information as it becomes available.
