Contraband Seized at JTVCC

A suspicious package was seized at the Vaughn Correctional Center in Smyrna.  Corrections officials say the package was mailed using a fictitious vendor name and shipped from an outside location.  Inside the box over 7 ounces of marijuana and three cellphones which were packaged inside 4 pound bags of coffee.  Officials say if the package wasn’t found – it would have gone to the main kitchen and intercepted by inmate workers and distributed throughout the prison where the contents have a value of $9000 to $12,000.
