Fire companies and firefighters across Delmarva are praying for and supporting the Clayton Fire Company after a member was seriously injured Monday evening.

According to the Clayton Fire Company, the fire company member was on a scissor lift cleaning an upper portion of the north engine room bay Monday evening, when the bay door was opened. That caused the scissor lift to fall over.
The fire department member fell about 25 feet and struck his head on the bumper of a fire vehicle.
Several Clayton EMTs were already there for work detail and began immediate life-saving measures.
Other paramedics also responded, and a Delaware State Police helicopter flew the injured person to Christiana Hospital for treatment of head injuries.
Clayton Police Department is also investigating the incident.
