The City of Rehoboth Beach–40-foot Christmas tree broke in two as it was lifted off the trailer. They have decided to simply use the upper two-thirds of the tree, measuring about 25-feet tall. The city’s holiday tree may not be as tall as some in previous years, but they say it still has a gorgeous shape and can’t wait to see it lit up.

City of Rehoboth Beach–Facebook Post:

Oh, snap! Our holiday tree installation today comes with a really good story. All was going smoothly with the transport of the approximately 40-foot “green giant” arborvitae to the bandstand until we began lifting it off the trailer. Suddenly, with a loud snap, the tree sadly broke in two. Following several deep breaths, phone calls, and consultations about what we should do, we decided to simply use the upper two-thirds of the tree, measuring about 25-feet tall. The city’s holiday tree may not be as tall as some in previous years, but it still has a gorgeous shape. We can’t wait to see it lit up!

Our thanks to Dean and Debbie Smith for their back-to-back donation of trees. Many thanks to Harry Caswell Plumbing, George Plummer & Sons, and Delmarva Power for helping us “save” the holiday season and for installing the tree for the city.
