Choptank Electric Cooperative Issues Beat the Peak Alert

Choptank Electric Cooperative has issued a Beat the Peak Alert for Wednesday, January 22st between 6:00 and 9:00 a.m. as cold temperatures are expected to push their peak energy over the top. They advise members to conserve energy to keep costs lower.

Delay use of unnecessary lights and appliances such as dishwashers, washing machines and clothes dryers during the hours stated above.

Turning your thermostat down a few degrees can represent major savings on your bill, helps the environment and reduces the need for the Cooperative to purchase expensive energy during peak periods.

The recent snow and freezing temperatures we’ve experienced this month have lead to more energy use and potentially higher electric bills. Find more ways to conserve energy and lower your bill at choptankelectric.coop/energy-efficiency.
