Chain Reaction Crash in Camden Leaves 1 Dead
Delaware State Police continue to investigate a four vehicle chain reaction crash that left one person dead in Camden Monday evening. Police say just before 6pm several vehicles were stopped or slowed for a traffic light on Route 13 at Thomas Harmon Drive when the driver of a Chevy Van failed to see the stopped traffic and struck the rear of a GMC pickup truck which then struck Mazda SUV, which struck a Ford Fusion. The driver of the pickup, 35 year old Marcus Smith of Dover was properly restrained – he was pronounced dead at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital – a passenger in the truck sustained minor injuries. Drivers and passengers in the other vehicles were properly restrained and sustained minor injuries. The southbound lanes of Route 13 were closed for about 5 hours until the scene was cleared.
