Camden-Wyoming Man Charged with Drug & Weapons Offenses

A Camden-Wyoming man has been arrested after a traffic stop on Friday morning in Dover. Delaware State Police spotted the gray 2015 Mazda 3 on Wyoming Avenue. A computer check showed the registered owner had a suspended license and two active warrants. Police stopped the car and smelled marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The driver – identified as 26 year old Malik Smith – was arrested and a search of the car turned up a concealed handgun and over 7 grams of marijuana.

Smith was taken to Troop 3 and charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession of a Firearm While Possessing a Controlled Substance (Felony)
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Driving While Suspended or Revoked

Smith was arraigned at JP Court 2 and released on his own recognizance.
