Bridgeville teen arrested for pulling gun on family, police say
A Bridgeville teen was arrested after police say he pulled a handgun on family in the midst of an argument.
According to the Delaware State Police Department, the incident occurred around 11:30 a.m., Sunday at a home located in the 20000 block of Booker T. Washington Street in Bridgeville.
17-year-old Edward J. Massey was involved in an argument with family members at the time of the incident, three juvenile siblings and a step-parent.
Massey briefly left the home but returned a short time later armed with a handgun, according to police, which alarmed his relatives. After displaying the weapon, Massey again fled the residence in an unknown direction.
There were no injuries as a result of the incident.
Massey returned to the residence shortly after police arrived and was taken into custody without incident. He was found to be in possession of heroin, according to police. The firearm, which was loaded, was also recovered.
Further investigation determined that the firearm had been reported as stolen.
Massey was charged with Aggravated Menacing (4 counts), Reckless Endangering (4 counts), Possession of a Deadly Weapon during the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Weapon by a Prohibited Juvenile (2 counts), Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Massey was arraigned and committed to a detention facility on $33,000 secured bail.
