Bridgeville Man Arrested for Domestic Assault
Delaware State Police say they have arrested 38-year-old Kenneth McDowell following a domestic incident and assault that took place in Bridgeville in April.
Troopers say the incident took place on April 19, 2019 around 2:44 a.m. on Craft Road in Bridgeville. Troopers located a female victim who said her boyfriend, McDowell, drove her to the area and pointed a gun at her, threatening to kill her. McDowell was located on the property along with his 2009 Chevy Silverado pickup truck.
During an interview with authorities, the victim said McDowell had physically assaulted her, pulled out a handgun and fired it off next to her at close range. On May 25, a search warrant was executed at a shed where the victim claimed McDowell had fired the gun. Troopers recovered a .380 caliber shell casing from the scene. They also recovered a Ruger LCP .380 caliber handgun at a later date from McDowell.
On June 7, with the assistance of the Attorney General’s Office, Troopers obtained an arrest warrant for McDowell and charged him with Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Aggravated Menacing, Third Degree Assault and Terroristic Threatening.
On June 10, McDowell was taken into police custody in the Dover area without incident. He was arraigned and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on 32,000 dollars secured bond.
