UPDATED: Pedestrian Struck, Killed Outside Rehoboth on Coastal Highway
UPDATED – 9PM – Delaware State Police have identified the pedestrian who died in a crash early Sunday morning at approximately 12:16 on Coastal Highway (Route 1) south of Church Street west of Rehoboth Beach, as 40 year old Martir Santiago of Rehoboth Beach. The crash remains under investigation.

UPDATED – 9:30am – Route 1 northbound in Rehoboth Beach was closed for over three hours after pedestrian was struck just after midnight in the area of Church Street by a fully marked State Trooper who was responding to a call. Police say the 40 year old man was crossing Route 1 from the east and was struck by the trooper in the left lane. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene – he had no light or reflective clothing and was not in a marked crosswalk – impairment on his behalf is not known. The trooper was not injured and has been placed on administrative leave. The crash remains under investigation.

Northbound Coastal Highway is closed outside of Rehoboth after a pedestrian was struck and killed around 12:17 a.m. Sunday near Church Street.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
This is roughly the same area where another pedestrian had been killed in the southbound side on May 18.
