The state police were assisted by Dewey, Rehoboth, DNREC park rangers, the Coast Guard and the Lewes marine unit searching for a distraught missing woman early this morning.

She was initially reported in downtown Rehoboth Beach Sunday evening. At one point, police spotted her SUV with no lights on just before 10:30 p.m. She was able to drive off and abandon her Subaru at the north end of Dewey Beach where she fled on foot, last seen in the area of Carolina Street.

The state police helicopter, Trooper 2, made numerous passes over the area.

Just as the Coast Guard and Lewes FD marine unit started to conduct shoreline searches, a state trooper safely located the missing woman on Dickinson Street in Dewey Beach around 12:45 a.m.
