UPDATED: Suspect in Laurel Roadside Death Back in Delaware

UPDATED  4/4/19  4:30pm – The Laurel man wanted for the murder of a Seaford woman near Laurel in March has been extradited back to Delaware from Virginia. Delaware State Police have charged 32 year old Joseph Beck with 1st degree murder, abuse of a corpse and weapons violations. He is being held at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on over 2-million cash only bond.

UPDATED  3/25/19  6pm – Delaware State Police with the DE Department of Justice have indicted a 32 year old Laurel man in connection with the murder of 34 year old Tia Tucker of Seaford.  Tucker’s body was found on March 9th along the side of South Shell Bridge Road near the Broad Creek Estates.  Police say Tucker was shot in the upper body – and 32 year old Joseph Beck has been indicted on charges of 1st degree murder, abuse of a corpse and weapons offenses.  Beck is being held in Virginia – awaiting extradition back to Delaware.

UPDATED 3-22-19 6am – The investigation into the murder of a woman near Laurel continues.  Delaware State Police Detectives were in the area of Phillips Landing Road yesterday (Thursday) in reference to a follow up investigation.  Police closed the area of Shell Bridge and Phillips Landing Roads as well as the intersection of Mt. Pleasant and Old Sharptown Roads for about 4 hours.  The Division of Forensic Science is still working to determine the victim’s official identity and police say there’s no immediate concern for the public’s safety at this time.  If you have any information – contact Crime Stoppers.

UPDATED  3-14-19  11am – The death of a woman found along South Shell Bridge Road near Laurel just before 7:30am Saturday has been ruled murder.  Delaware State Police say autopsy results show the woman died of a gunshot wound to the upper body.  The investigation is continuing.  If you have any information – contact Crime Stoppers.

UPDATED  3-12-19  11:05am – Delaware State Police say the body that was found in the Laurel area on Saturday morning is an adult female. Police were called to South Shell Bridge Road near Broad Creek Estates just before 7:30 and found the woman’s body along the side of the roadway. Her body has been turned over to the Division of Forensic Science to determine the cause and manner of death and her identity. Police tell WGMD the woman’s death is suspicious, but no other suspicious activity has been reported in that area at that time.  Police have increased patrols and the investigation is continuing.

The Delaware State Police are currently conducting a death investigation after a body was found deceased on the side of the roadway.

The investigation began Saturday morning around 7:24 a.m., when Troopers were dispatched to South Shell Bridge Road in the area of Broad Creek Estates for a victim that was found deceased on the side of the roadway.

The victim has been turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death.  The adult victim’s identity is unknown at this time.

The investigation is in it’s early stages with further information being released as it becomes available.
