Delaware State Police say that 59-year-old Richard Duffy of Hartly, the operator of a bicycle has died following a crash earlier this month in Dover.
Trooper say their investigation determined a 56-year-old Hartly woman operating a Chrysler PT Cruiser was traveling westbound on Forest Ave (Route 8) east of Victory Chapel Road. Meanwhile, Duffy was operating a bicycle in a northwesterly direction on Forest Ave when he crossed directly into the vehicle’s path and was struck and tossed onto the pavement.
The incident happened in the 9 p.m. hour on Thursday, March 14. Troopers say Duffy was wearing all dark clothing and had no lights or reflective gear. Additionally, he was not wearing a helmet or safety gear.
