Bethany Beach Woman Arrested for Fourth DUI
Rehoboth Beach Police say they’ve arrested and charged a Bethany Beach woman for her fourth DUI offense, after they were called for a report of a disorderly person at a restaurant.
The suspect has been identified as 39-year-old Jennie Martin. Authorities say around 9 p.m. they arrived at the Blackwall Hitch restaurant on Rehoboth Avenue in Rehoboth Beach to learn that a former employee (Martin) had demanded tax documents from the manager. When she was told they were not available, she reportedly became disorderly and yelled profanity. Another worker tried to escort Martin out of the restaurant, although police say Martin allegedly punched the employee in the face. Martin fled the scene in a Jeep Cherokee before police arrived. She later returned to the scene, and officers administered a field sobriety test after she displayed signs of intoxication.
She failed the field sobriety test and was arrested and charged with her fourth felony offense of driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as charged with possession of marijuana, offensive touching and disorderly conduct, among other charges. Martin is being held at Sussex Correctional Institute in Georgetown on 4,750 dollars secured bail.
