Berlin Daycare Worker Arrested for Child Abuse

An investigation into physical child abuse at the Eastern Shore Learning Academy in Berlin was started in January by the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office after a complaint was received. Investigators observed the victim at the hospital and interviewed the suspect, Sandy Buckwalter, the children who were present during the incident and the bus driver. Deputies learned that Buckwalter picked up the victim – a special needs child and dropped him to the floor where he hit his head. Surveillance video from the bus showed a second incident between the 3 year old and Buckwalter. She was arrested last week and charged with 2nd degree child abuse and 2 counts of 2nd degree assault.
