Applications Available for Delaware State Police Camp Barnes
The Delaware State Police says applications will soon be available online or in person at Troops across the state for Camp Barnes, the recreational summer camp that is run and operated by DSP.
DSP says the camp is free to those who attend, children between the ages of 10 or 13 and are residents of Delaware. Some of the activities included in the week-long event include swimming in an Olympic-size pool, kayaking in Millers Creek, Archery, Basketball, Soccer, Lacrosse, Arts and Crafts, Nature Walks, Fishing and Crabbing, a Talent Show and Camp Olympics.
Officials say the Camp has a staff of 16 counselors (8 male, 8 female) and all are required to submit to a criminal background check and interview. There’s also an on site nurse, cook and assistant cook, as well as a State trooper on duty. DSP stresses Camp Barnes is not a boot camp or intended for youth with behavioral issues.
Campers are required to get a physical examination before being accepted. For more information on Camp Barnes and how to apply you can visit www.campbarnes.net
