Amended Legislation to Fund Delaware Tech Out of Senate Committee

A Delaware State Senate committee has approved Senate Substitute 2 for Senate Bill 50 which deals with the funding for major and minor capital improvements, deferred maintenance and more and will establish the Community College Infrastructure Fund for Delaware Tech. The College’s Board of Trustees will have the authority to issue bonds to finance the funding – rather than a property tax which was included in the original measure.  SS 2 also provides a mechanism – but not an obligation – for the state to provide matching funds for minor capital improvement projects consistent with existing matching provisions for public education.  The measure will go to the full Senate for consideration.
