About DataTech Digital and The Talk of Delmarva

The Talk of Delmarva: Our Story

The Talk of Delmarva began its journey in 1980 when Joseph Giuliani, Gene McCoy, and David Schoumacher acquired WLRB in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. The station's call letters were changed to WGMD, an acronym representing the initials of its leadership. WGMD initially operated as a music station, but after a few years, David, drawing on his journalistic roots under Walter Cronkite, transformed the station's format to News/Talk. This shift marked a significant change, as David persuaded Rush Limbaugh to include an FM station in his syndication network, expanding from the list of AM stations broadcasting nationwide.

In the fall of 2021, Joe's son, Mark, purchased WUSX in Seaford from Adams Radio. By the spring of 2022, he integrated WGMD into DataTech Digital, continuing the legacy that Joe, Gene, and David started 42 years earlier. This merger provided unparalleled reach, connecting listeners from the Chesapeake Bay to the beaches of Delmarva.

Together, the two stations offer comprehensive coverage of local, regional, and national news, led by a team of local announcers. Live, local broadcasting happens during the week from 5 a.m. to noon and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., while syndicated shows take over the remaining hours. Listeners can enjoy a diverse lineup, choosing from hosts like Dan Bongino or Rob Carson from noon to 3 p.m., or Mark Levin vs. Charlie Kirk.
