3 Injured, 1 Critically in Tuesday Evening Crash in Millsboro

Delaware State Police are investigating a serious accident that took place on Tuesday evening in Millsboro.

Troopers with the Collision Reconstruction Unit say around 9:47 p.m. a Ford Fiesta traveling on southbound Mount Joy Road at a high rate of speed and for some reason lost control of the vehicle. The Fiesta exited the west edge of the roadway and entered onto the grass shoulder. The Fiesta began rotating before colliding with a utility pole which broke in half upon impact. The Fiesta overturned and struck a standing tree before coming to an uncontrolled stop along the west shoulder of Mount Joy Road.

The driver, a 21-year-old male from Seaford was not properly restrained. He was transported to Beebe Healthcare Hospital with serious injuries. A 27-year-old male from Millsboro in the front passenger seat was not properly restrained. He was transported to Beebe Healthcare Hospital and later transferred to Christiana Hospital in critical condition. A rear seat passenger, a 22-year-old female from Millsboro was properly restrained and was transported to Beebe Healthcare Hospital in serious condition.

Mount Joy Road was closed for approximately 3 hours while the crash was investigated.
