UPDATED: 2 Seaford House Fires Wednesday – 1 Arson & 1 Person found Dead in Other

UPDATED – 5/3 – The Delaware State Fire Marshal has determined a fire Wednesday night on Hurley Park Drive was intentional.  Fire officials say someone set items inside the unoccupied home on fire – and Seaford firefighters were called to the home just before 8pm where they found an active fire inside the home.  A second fire on North Arch Street was reported minutes later – one person died in that fire – but officials say they don’t appear to be related.  Fire officials ask anyone with information on this fire to contact Crime Stoppers – 800-TIP-3333.

One person is dead after a house fire in Seaford Wednesday night. Firefighters were called to a blaze on North Arch Street just before 8pm – one person was found deceased inside the home. Crews arriving at the scene found heavy fire – six other adults were displaced by the blaze and are being helped by the American Red Cross. The State Fire Marshal is investigating to determine the cause and origin of the fire. The Division of Forensic Science will conduct an autopsy today to positively identify the victim.

This was the second fire call within 10 minutes that Seaford fire crews were called to – the first call was to a home on Hurley Park Drive.

Firefighters from around Sussex County assisted at both blazes.
