Two Arrested for Separate Georgetown Forged Check Crimes

A Georgetown man and a Seaford man have been arrested for separate check forgery crimes.

Georgetown Police say 37-year-old Gary Palverento of Georgetown was arrested after he stole and forged a 53-year-old man’s checks.  Palverento wrote two checks to himself, signed the checks with the victim’s name, then cashed those checks at the M&T bank in Millsboro.  Police charged Palverento with identity theft and theft.

Georgetown Police also say 27-year-old Eric Steele of Seaford was wanted for an April incident where he and written and cashed a stolen check at Service General.  Those checks were stolen from a Millsboro business.  Georgetown officials say Delaware State Police arrested Steele on unrelated charges and the outstanding warrant by the Georgetown Police Department.

Both men have been committed to the Sussex Correction Institute.
