WGMD’s Jon Budler has an recap of what happened this week in the Sussex County Council.
Sussex County has received $797,000 for funding of transportation expenses for various senior centers in the county from DART, a division of DelDOT.
The council unanimously approved (Councilwoman Deavers absent) the distribution at this morning’s meeting. Distribution includes $45,000 to Nanticoke Senior Center, $2,100 to Indian River Senior Center, $99,000 to Laurel Senior Center, $27,000 to Lewes Senior Center, $43,000 to Cape Henlopen Senior Center, and $580,000 to CHEER, Inc.
The funds are used to pay for transportation needs; such as vehicle maintenance, fuel and other expenses.

Indian River Volunteer Fire Company for the Ladies Auxiliary’s fundraiser for fire and rescue services (Bingo basket prizes) – $100 (Cole)
Lewes Fire Department for uniforms for the Ladies Auxiliary – Deferred
Delmarva Clergy United in Social Action Foundation to support The Griffin’s Place – $1,000 (Deaver, Wilson)
Fort Miles Historical Association for infrastructure improvements – $5,000 ($1,000 from each council’s account)
