Five File for Two Rehoboth Beach Commissioner Seats, Two for Mayor

The deadline to file to run for mayor or commissioner in Rehoboth Beach ended today at noon. Two filed to run for mayor and five filed for commissioner.

Those throwing their name in the hat for mayor are Mayor Samuel Cooper and Tom McGlone.

Five candidates have filed to run for one of the two city commissioner seats.

They are Francis “Bunky” Markert, who currently serves on the planning commission, Kathy McGuines, a former city commissioner, John Meng, Lawrence Myslewski, and incumbent Commissioner Lorraine Zellers.

In a letter to the editor of the Cape Gazette, Commissioner Mark Hunker said he will not seek a second term.

The last day to register to vote is Friday, June 13.  The election is Saturday, August 9.
