[UPDATE 6/16 9:10 a.m.] Officials now say all, except a small few, have had their power restored.

[UPDATE] Officials say there are now only 1,260 customers without power.  Crews still working to restoring power to all customers.

[ORIGINAL] Delaware Electric Co-op is reporting over 6,300 customers are without power in the Long Neck, Milton, Millsboro, and Georgetown areas.

The outage is affecting traffic signals on major roadways, most notable Route 24 and Route 5.  Crews are working to make the necessary repairs.  No word on the timeline for the repairs to be made.

Here’s the statement from Delaware Electric Co-op officials:

The outage was caused by a car accident near one of our substation outside of Georgetown. Co-op crews are working to replace a pole that was taken out. We’re hoping we’ll be able to back feed, or redirect power to some members who are in the dark. We’re not sure how long this outage will last.
