A New Castle man is accused of raping a 25-year-old woman last week.

Delaware State Police say 20-year-old James Daniels was identified by the victim as the perpetrator in the case. State Police say Daniels drove the victim to a secluded area, where he paid her for sexual acts… but ended up punching her several times.

Police say the victim ran from the vehicle but Daniels chased after her, caught her, and forced her back into the vehicle. He forced the victim to disrobe, struck her with a baseball bat, and sexually assaulted her. The victim was eventually able to escape from the vehicle and Daniels drove away with her belongings.

He’s charged with first-degree rape, robbery and possession of a deadly weapon during commission of a felony.
