Governor Jack Markell has signed legislation to criminalize “revenge porn”.

The law makes it illegal to distribute video or photos of a person naked or engaged in sexual acts without his or her consent. The bill, House Bill 260, is co-sponsored by Laurel State Representative Tim Dukes.

One advocacy group says the issue is a growing problem, with one in ten ex-partners being threatened to exposure online.

Punishment ranges from a Class A Misdemeanor to a Class G Felony to convicted persons.
