Tyler Nixon with Robin Williams on Dead Poets Society Film Location December 1988
In late 1988 while a senior at Archmere Academy I was a “day player” in Dead Poets Society, able to work with Robin Williams. We filmed over a couple of weeks during winter break at St. Andrews School in Middletown, Delaware, and at a soundstage built in an East Wilmington warehouse.
Robin was a shy man, one-on-one, but add a couple of people and suddenly he had an audience, and was immediately transformed. A huge audience was his oyster. Robin’s constant mini-skits, riffs and jokes off-camera were even funnier than his bits in the movie. A very unassuming, humble, kind man…and of course, funny funny funny.
Rest in peace, Robin.
