A man wanted by Delaware State Police for a Friday afternoon Lewes bank robbery has been arrested by Laurel Police Friday night.

A man wanted by Delaware State Police for a Friday afternoon Lewes bank robbery has been arrested by Laurel Police Friday night.

State Police say a man walked into the County Bank in the Village of Five Points in Lewes, approached a female teller, snatched money she was counting and then demanded more.  The teller complied and he left with the money, seen getting into a white sedan.

About two-and-a-half hours later, Laurel Police spotted a vehicle matching the description of the one used in the Lewes robbery and attempted to stop it.  The car, driven by 40-year-old Christopher Didio of Georgetown, continued southbound on US 13 and was later stopped on MD 54 in Maryland.

Troopers were able to identify Didio and connect him to the Lewes bank robbery.  He is also a suspect in a bank robbery in Seaford that happened earlier Friday and is being investigated by Seaford Police.

Didio is being held in Maryland on a fugitive warrant pending extradition back to Delaware, where he is charged with 2nd degree robbery and related charges in connection to the Lewes robbery.

Police are still investigating the incident.
