Del. House Lawmakers Approve Interlock Device Law

Delaware’s House of Representatives have approved a bill that would require anyone convicted of drunk driving in the state to have ignition interlock devices installed on their cars.

The law would require that on the first offense, the interlock device would be required for at least four months.  Currently, only DUI convictions with a blood-alcohol concentration of .15 or higher, repeat offenders, and those who refuse to take a chemical test are required to install an interlock device.

Twenty other states have a law like this.  The bill heads to the Senate to get approval before it becomes law.
